Chris has dedicated much of his life to military service, veteran advocacy, and supporting veterans and their families. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served two full enlistments before being honorably discharged at age 25.
Chris earned his VFW eligibility while serving aboard the USS Bunker Hill as a member of the ship’s Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) team. In January 2007, he deployed to the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
Following his military service, Chris continued his commitment to the veteran community through the Student Veterans Organization at Grossmont College, Student Veterans of America, and the Student Veterans Organization at San Diego State University. He later joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he found an organization that closely aligned with his commitment to service, leadership, and camaraderie.
Throughout his VFW career, Chris has held numerous leadership positions, including Membership Chair, Senior Vice Commander, and Commander of VFW Post 9327; Assistant Inspector for VFW California District 1; Idaho Area 2 Recruiter; Commander of VFW Post 3886 and Quartermaster for Post 11065. During his tenure as Commander of Post 9327, the Post earned both All-State and All-American honors for 2012–2013. That same year, Chris was recognized as the California 77th Assembly District Veteran of the Year for his service to the veteran community.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University. Throughout his veteran advocacy, he has assisted fellow veterans with educational opportunities, access to resources, and assistance navigating the VA benefits process. For Chris, the VFW represents veterans helping veterans and continuing the tradition of service long after leaving the military.
As District 4 Commander for the VFW Department of Idaho, Chris is committed to strengthening local Posts, growing membership and participation, developing future leaders, and expanding support for Idaho’s veterans and their families. He believes strongly in the traditions and values of the VFW while recognizing the importance of evolving to meet the needs of today’s veterans.
Outside of his professional and VFW commitments, Chris is happily married and the proud father of three children. He values spending time with his family and, in his free time, enjoys camping, hunting, and taking advantage of Idaho’s great outdoors.
His goal is clear: strengthen our Posts, serve our veterans and their families, support our communities, and help make the VFW Department of Idaho a model of excellence across the nation.
